Grow Green Giving: Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation
The Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation, led by Executive Director Lesley White, is dedicated to advancing the work of the Flint Hills Discovery Center through dynamic development programs. To spread awareness and garner support for the center's initiatives, the foundation organizes various fundraising events throughout the year, including the renowned Friend of the Flint Hills and Bison, Beef, and Bourbon gatherings.
The Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation participates in Grow Green Match Day to expand its reach and amplify its message. Lesley White reflects on the motivation behind their involvement, emphasizing the opportunity to promote their mission to a broader audience while securing vital funding.
"Gaining additional donors, additional support, and maintaining donors that normally support us... but also getting people to learn more about us, is what encouraged us to start participating [in Grow Green],” said Lesley White.
In 2023, the funds raised during Grow Green Match Day enabled the foundation to make significant strides in its youth education programs. They collaborated with local libraries and provided hundreds of youth passes to incentivize reading and learning. Additionally, they supported community events like Breakfast with Santa and Family New Year's Eve.
Looking forward to 2024, the foundation aims to strengthen these initiatives, expand educational outreach to rural areas, and foster a sense of pride and connection among the region's youth. As Lesley White expresses gratitude for the ongoing support, she emphasizes the importance of education dollars in shaping the community's future. Through their dedication and innovative approach, the Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation continues to profoundly impact the lives of youth and families across the region.

On this day, your donation (between $25 and $1,000) will be matched at 50%. Organizations are eligible to receive up to $7,500 in matching dollars from $15,000 in donations.
